When I was shot an email about South Florida metal band Forty Winters, the first thing I noticed was that the cover to their new album Rotting Empire was something right out of a horror movie and I wanted, nay…I NEEDED more of that! So I asked if the band would be interested in putting together a list of what they believe to be the 10 most gruesome metal covers and they came through with some fantastic choices! And what place is that unholy marriage more prevalent than in metal album covers? The love for horror and metal go hand-in-hand in so many ways and it warms my heart when I see a band use our genre in interesting and exciting ways. As a metalhead, I love that it’s so entwined with the horror genre.
